Eros, known to the Roman’s as Cupid or Amor, is the Greek god of love and sex, and the child of Aphrodite. He is usually presented as a handsome young man, though in some appearances as a juvenile boy full of mischief, always winged and carrying his signature bow and arrows, which he uses to make both mortals and immortal gods fall in love.
The bronze centrepiece of Eros at Piccadilly Circus, a longstanding THAMES mascot, is actually neither bronze nor of Eros, but it has been mistaken for him so consistently and for such a long time that it may as well be.
